 FUK radio celebrates 2nd anniversary.

In a thrilling atmosphere and joy the students, staff and well wishers within and outside the university community converged to the Entrepreneurship Centre of Federal University of Kashere to celebrate the 2nd year anniversary of FUK since its establishment in the university as a community-based radio.

In his speech, the Vice chancellor of the university Prof. Umaru A. Pate while highlighting the essence of establishing the radio station in the university, he said it is purposely established to train Mass communication department students in order to equip them with the practical knowledge in the field of their studies.

While raising some of the challenges media house are facing especially with the advent of the internet in terms of funding, he said most media houses in Nigeria today find it difficult to be in the business as a result of adverts which they normally depends on no longer coming as usual. Therefore, he encouraged the student journalists to better utilize the opportunity of having the radio in the university for their practicals. 

The university Don equally commended the university community, particularly the surrounding communities for their usual support to the development of the radio station and the university, assuring them that the relationship they have build over time will be maintained. 

Earlier, in his welcome address the overseer of the station, Mal. Hassan Abubakar Kwami said as part of their efforts to serve their audience better with educative and entertaining programmes, the radio station have staff as well students who were all working day-in day-out to making sure that the programmes reach them all the times. He said the station since its establishment have been airing its programmes in 5 different languages; which includes: Hausa, Fulfulde, Tangale, Jukun as well as English languages. 

In their words of encouragement Bello Shugaban Matasa and O/ 2 Mai Warwaso who spoke on behalf of FUK radio teaming listeners appreciated the Vice chancellor for his magnanimity towards establishing the radio station and installing modern equipments in the studios, encouraging him to sustain the tempo. 

Highlight of the event include; award of excellence presented to the Vice chancellor Prof. Umaru A. Pate by Kashere community development association, a football Jersey on behalf of FUK radio listeners association, as well group pictures.
